In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Ford Bronco Sport achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Lincoln Corsair has not been tested.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Bronco Sport. But it costs extra on the Corsair.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Bronco Sport Sasquatch/Badlands’ standard Trail Control allows you to creep down safely. The Corsair doesn’t offer Trail Control.

Both the Bronco Sport and the Corsair have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Ford Bronco Sport is safer than the Lincoln Corsair:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Ford Bronco Sport is safer than the Lincoln Corsair:

Side impacts caused 23% of all road fatalities in 2018, down from 29% in 2003, when the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety introduced its side barrier test. In order to continue improving vehicle safety, the IIHS has started using a more severe side impact test: 37 MPH (up from 31 MPH), with a 4180-pound barrier (up from 3300 pounds). The results of this newly developed test demonstrates that the Ford Bronco Sport is safer than the Corsair:

There are almost 7 times as many Ford dealers as there are Lincoln dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Bronco Sport’s warranty.

Reliability

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Bronco Sport’s reliability 21 points higher than the Corsair.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Bronco Sport third among small suvs in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The Corsair isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Ford vehicles are better in initial quality than Lincoln vehicles. With 13 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Ford higher than Lincoln.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Ford vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln With 13 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Ford higher than Lincoln.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Ford vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Ford 9 places higher in reliability than Lincoln.

Tires and Wheels

The Bronco Sport offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Corsair; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Bronco Sport is 1.2 inches wider in the front than the track on the Corsair.

Chassis

The Ford Bronco Sport may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 to 650 pounds less than the Lincoln Corsair.

The Bronco Sport is 8.3 inches shorter than the Corsair, making the Bronco Sport easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

As tested by Car and Driver while under full throttle, the interior of the Bronco Sport Badlands is quieter than the Corsair Grand Touring (73 vs. 74 dB).

Passenger Space

The Bronco Sport has 3.1 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Corsair (105.6 vs. 102.5).

The Bronco Sport has 2 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room, 3 inches more rear headroom and 2.6 inches more rear hip room than the Corsair.

Cargo Capacity

The Bronco Sport has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Corsair with its rear seat up (32.5 vs. 27.6 cubic feet). The Bronco Sport has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Corsair with its rear seat folded (65.2 vs. 57.6 cubic feet).

The Bronco Sport’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the liftgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Corsair’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

Towing

The Bronco Sport’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Corsair’s (2200 vs. 2000 pounds).

Ergonomics

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The Bronco Sport’s headlights were rated “Good” by the IIHS, while the Corsair’s headlights are rated “Acceptable” to “Poor.”

The Bronco Sport offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Corsair doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

Recommendations

Consumer Reports® recommends both the Ford Bronco Sport and the Lincoln Corsair, based on reliability, safety and performance.

The Ford Bronco Sport outsold the Lincoln Corsair by over five to one during 2025.
