The Ford F-150 has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The F-150 has standard Post-Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the F-150 4x4’s optional Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

Both the F-150 and the Hummer EV Pickup have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available four-wheel drive and around view monitors.

The F-150’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Hummer EV Pickup’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

There are over 71 percent more Ford dealers than there are GMC dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the F-150’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the F-150 first among large light duty pickups in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The Hummer EV Pickup isn’t in the top three.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Ford vehicles are better in initial quality than GMC vehicles. With 6 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Ford higher than GMC.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Ford vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Ford 7 places higher in reliability than GMC.

The F-150 stops much shorter than the Hummer EV Pickup:

The F-150’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Hummer EV Pickup’s 55 series tires.

The F-150 has a standard full size spare so a flat doesn’t interrupt your work or a trip. A full size spare costs extra on the Hummer EV Pickup. Without the option you must depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the F-150 5.5-foot SuperCrew’s wheelbase is 9.8 inches longer than on the Hummer EV Pickup (145.4 inches vs. 135.6 inches). The F-150 6.5-foot SuperCrew’s wheelbase is 21.6 inches longer than on the Hummer EV Pickup (157.2 inches vs. 135.6 inches).

The F-150 5.5-foot XLT SuperCrew 4x4 handles at .76 G’s, while the Hummer EV Pickup 3X pulls only .72 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The F-150 5.5-foot Platinum SuperCrew 4x4 executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Hummer EV Pickup 3X (27.6 seconds @ .63 average G’s vs. 28.1 seconds @ .65 average G’s).

The Ford F-150 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 3100 to 4600 pounds less than the GMC Hummer EV Pickup.

The F-150 is 6.8 inches narrower than the Hummer EV Pickup, making the F-150 easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The F-150 SuperCab offers optional seating for 6 passengers; the Hummer EV Pickup can only carry 5.

The F-150 SuperCrew shortbed has a much larger cargo box than the Hummer EV Regular Cab shortbed (52.8 vs. 36.7 cubic feet).

The Hummer EV Pickup’s spare tire is stored in the cargo area, where it diminishes the useable cargo capacity and interferes with loading and unloading. The F-150’s spare is out of the way underneath.

A low lift-over bed design makes loading and unloading the F-150 Regular Cab easier. The F-150 Regular Cab’s bed lift-over height is 34.7 inches, while the Hummer EV Pickup’s liftover is 41.4 inches. The F-150 SuperCrew’s liftover is only 34 inches.

The F-150’s cargo box is larger than the Hummer EV Pickup’s in almost every dimension:

The F-150 has bed indentations that accommodate 2x4’s for two-tiered loading to help accommodate diverse loads; the Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer two-tiered loading. The F-150 also has indentations to separate the cargo box into three different sections length-wise.

The F-150 has stake post holes, to allow the containment of tall, light loads. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer stake post holes.

Maximum trailer towing in the GMC Hummer EV Pickup is limited to 12100 pounds. The F-150 6.5-foot SuperCrew 4x4 offers up to a 13500 lbs. towing capacity.

The F-150 4WD can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the F-150 can be unhitched and driven around locally. The Hummer EV Pickup can’t be towed flat on the ground.

The F-150 5.5-foot SuperCrew 4x4 has a much higher optional payload capacity than the Hummer EV Pickup (1980 vs. 1760 lbs.).

The F-150 Lariat/King Ranch/Platinum/Tremor offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The F-150’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Hummer EV Pickup’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the F-150’s available exterior PIN entry system. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its OnStar® can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the F-150 offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer cornering lights. The F-150 Lariat/King Ranch/Platinum also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

The F-150 King Ranch/Platinum offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Hummer EV Pickup.

The Ford F-150 comes in regular cab, extended cab and crew cab bodystyles; the GMC Hummer EV Pickup isn’t available as a regular cab or extended cab.

The F-150 is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
